The Haunted Man is the final in a series of five stories that Dickens wrote for the festive season.
Redlaw is a teacher of chemistry who often broods over wrongs done him and grief from his past. He is haunted by a spirit, who is not so much a ghost as Redlaw's phantom twin.
As with the first novella in the series, A Christmas Carol, the story is one of redemption, festivity, and generosity.
