Omdat de twintiger Dahla binnenkort Engelse les gaat geven in China, volgt ze een introductiecursus op een paar uur afstand van haar woonplaats. Ze verblijft zolang bij een alleenstaande vrouw. Als Dahla op een dag de uitgestrekte natuur intrekt, verdwaalt ze, maar gelukkig komt ze een man te paard tegen die haar terugbrengt. Finn heet hij en hij zegt in een klein, afgezonderd dorp te wonen, waar men een primitief leven leidt: Hometown. Dahla gaat een paar dagen later op zoek naar het dorp. Ze kan Finn namelijk niet uit haar hoofd zetten.
