Ein idyllisches Bergdorf in Südtirol - doch die Zeiten sind hart. Von 1939 bis 1943 werden die Leute vor die Wahl gestellt: entweder nach Deutschland auszuwandern oder als Bürger zweiter Klasse in Italien zu bleiben. Trina entscheidet sich für ihr Dorf, ihr Zuhause. Als die Faschisten ihr verbieten, als Lehrerin tätig zu sein, unterrichtet sie heimlich in Kellern und Scheunen. Und als ein Energiekonzern für einen Stausee Felder und Häuser überfluten will, leistet sie Widerstand - mit Leib und Seele.
