Der 15-jährige Marco ist Mitglied eines Clans, der sich mit Einbrüchen, Diebstählen und Bettelei über Wasser hält. Als der Clan droht, ihn zum Krüppel zu machen, flüchtet Marco Hals über Kopf und stolpert im Wald über eine Leiche. Das Gesicht des Toten lässt ihm keine Ruhe mehr und er setzt alles daran, das Verbrechen aufzuklären. Parallel nimmt auch Carl Mørck die Fährte auf - wie es scheint, ist der Tote in einen politischen Skandal über die Veruntreuung von Entwicklungshilfegeldern verstrickt. Gemeinsam kommen Mørck und Marco dem Komplott auf die Spur. Doch Marcos ehemaliger Bandenchef bleibt ihnen dicht auf den Fersen.

"Zwischendurch war es immer mal wieder langatmig. Auch fand ich nicht leicht rein. Das Herzeleid des Kommissars war auf Dauer nervig. Dennoch Daumen hoch für die intelligente Geschichte, den tollen Protagonisten Marco und sehr interessante und emotionale Einblicke in eine Ramdgruppe"
