Penny trekt zich tijdelijk terug in een huisje op het platteland van Brabant, onder meer om aan haar boek te werken. Aanvankelijk botst ze met haar eigenzinnige huisbaas Ivo, maar toch beginnen ze samen aan een zoektocht naar een in de Tweede Wereldoorlog verborgen meesterwerk. Hierbij lopen twee misdadigers, een knappe politieagent en een warrige barones hen danig in de weg. Penny's chaotische vriendin Vivian laveert intussen overal tussendoor en zet daarmee de zaak nog meer op scherp!
