Eindelijk, vakantie! Op naar Knokke! De schilder René Magritte en zijn echtgenote Georgette doen zich tegoed aan al wat de Belgische kust te bieden heeft: ritjes met de gocart, garnaalkroketten en mosselen met friet. Maar bovenal genieten ze in hun comfortabele ligstoel van het strand. Iets verderop kondigt het geblaf van hun hond Loulou het einde van de rust aan. Zij heeft in het zand een hand opgegraven.
