In our book today, 'Black Milk', Shafak recounts how her entire journey has changed, and how she turned from a writer who refuses to marry and sees an explicit threat to her creative life, for a wife, and a mother who seeks to balance her increasing responsibilities and her career future. The whole thing started with a date for tea in the home of Turkish writer Adalet Agaoglu and a simple question posed by Madaoglu, which would have turned the scales of everything: Don't you want to become a day or one day? This question was the beginning of a loud battle between its various internal voices, which are almost never agreed on anything, or as Shafak: The Choir of Conflicting Voices.
