内容简介： 字彦演，号亨九。福建南安人。明万历年进士，曾任陕西布政使参政。崇祯时任陕西三边总督，加太子太保、兵部尚书，兼督河南、山、陕、川、湖军务。崇祯十四年因清军进逼明京都，调任蓟辽总督，率八总兵、兵十三万，马四万援锦州，在松山地区与清军会战，大败，被俘至沈阳。崇祯帝以其必殉国，为其建祠，举行预祭。他却甘心降清，隶汉军镶黄旗。顺治元年从清军入关，后总督军务，镇压江南抗清义军。顺治十年受命经略湖广两广、滇黔，镇压各部农民起义军，至顺治十六年攻占云南后回北京历任武英殿大学士、五省经略等职。顺治十八年康熙帝即位后退职。卒于康熙四年，益'文襄'。
