Seinen Eltern entrissen und in der Wildnis verloren, muss sich der Junge Mogli so einigen Gefahren stellen. Neben den anarchistischen und chaotischen Affen hegt auch der blutrünstige Tiger Shere Khan Interesse an dem Menschenjungen. Doch zum Glück findet Mogli im unbarmherzigen indischen Dschungel auch einige gute Freunde - allen voran natürlich Baloo, den Bären, und Baghira, den Puma ... Eine nicht ganz so kindliche Interpretation des Klassikers von Rudyard Kipling.
