Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard asks for the help of Sherlock Holmes in a seemingly simple case: to find the man who breaks the plaster busts of Napoleon. Lestrade suggests that they are dealing with a crazy Napoleon hater, but Holmes dismisses this. Holmes finally discovers the secret. They head to the owner of the latest bust, where the detective buys it for £10. After they leave the surprised man, Sherlock Holmes breaks the bust, and finds in the wreckage a precious stone, the black pearl of Borgia. Translated by Mykola Dmytrenko.
